Rugs to Riches

Home improvement is always difficult especially when you have no keen eye for interior designing. Interior designing now a days cost much more than what you expected. Professional Interior designers can bill you as much as $24,000 for an entire job. That’s a lot money considering that you still have to pay for your monthly bills, mortgages and other prioritized necessity. But what if that is the case, why not design your own home instead of asking for the professional help of an interior designer? It does not cost that much plus you can design your own home exactly the way you wanted. You do not have to argue with the designer. For starters (and yes this post will have another series) let us begin with your Rugs in the house.

Rugs are usually the front liners of design. Before people even look at your curtains, the first thing they look at is your rug because rugs interpret coziness and comfort of your home. It is when your visitor starts to remove their shoes and feel the comfort beneath their feet that they tell you non-verbally that your home is quite homey and cozy.

So how do you choose a perfect rug?

First you have to consider the places that you intend to put your rug. You cannot just put a rug on the kitchen or in the front lawn am I right? So choose the places that you want to place your rug.

Second, consider the color or ambience of the room. If the general color of the walls is in earth colors then you cannot put a rug that has a hue of neon orange.

Third, make sure that your Area Rugs fit the floor area. You can actually find an online store that specifies the size of rug that you need.

Fourth, know the fabric of the rug the you will need. There are actually different types of fibers used for rugs; they are nylon, wool, olefin, polyester, acrylic, cotton and blends. The best rug to choose is the synthetic and wool. Synthetic fiber rugs are cheaper but wool rugs last longer because it are finely handcrafted and is made up of coiled springs, which prevents it from breaking the weave.

Fifth, know the shape of your rug. Will it be round, rectangular or runner?

And lastly, try to search online for Cheap Rugs. There are affordable rugs out there that actually look good on your house minus the cost. You just have to be resourceful because that is what professional interior designers do.

Try looking for online rug stores that offers oriental rugs, silk rugs, synthetic rugs and contemporary rugs so that you have a gallery of rugs to choose from.

With these simple tips on interior decoration, who needs an interior designer? Design your own home. Start with your rugs and your home will transcend from rugs to riches, at least appearance wise.
