What’s the difference Jolens?

276

Have you watched the episode of Pinoy Idol wherein two visually impaired (the word blind is very offensive) girls who have the most beautiful voices that I ever heard, auditioned for the show? Yet it seems our dear Jolina Magdangal went biased on her decision. Annie Britania who traveled by Ferry to Cebu and was accompanied by family members entered the audition room and wowed Ogie Alcasid with her voice. But with matching tears and tissue, Jolens (marble head) said “no” to the poor girl even if it was so obvious that her voice is more beautiful than our lady judge. Then came Katchry Golbin, also from Cebu and is likewise visually impaired. Katchry sang and also wowed some of the judges, yet Jolina mysteriously said “yes” (finally!). But what is the difference between the two? Only a bit actually. Both Britania and Golbin (not Goblin as others pronounce it) are both visually impaired who are gifted with the most beautiful voice man could ever hear. Heck, even Alcasid admitted that the two were far better than some of our country’s singers because they knew some techniques that other singers don’t know.

In short, these two don’t just yap on the microphone and scream their lungs out just to be able to level with Whitney Houston. Buo ang boses nila. No offense to Katchry, but Britania’s voice is more refined and has better quality than hers, though both are really really good (minus my exaggeration). But the question is this:

Why did Jolens allow Katchry to move on in the Manila Week while she rejected Britania, eventhough both can’t move that well on stage? Who knows, it’s her standards. But viewers can’t help but think that maybe, just maybe, Jolens was so guilty of Britania’s rejection that when a second visually impaired girl auditioned in the person of Katchry, she immediately said yes, just to white wash the guilt. Who knows again? If ever that is the case, maybe GMA7 should find a more credible judge. One who is not so fickle minded and who does not use overated dialogue of “Its not for anything else, but for Pinoy Idol”. Wow, coming from a singer who achieved so much.

Just a note, Andrea Bocelli, Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder are all visually impaired yet people adored them not because of their lack of training on stage nor their appearance but because of their voices.

My take is this: If she would allow a visually impaired person on Pinoy Idol, then she should have said yes to the two and not to Katchry alone. Or if she says no, just turn them both down so as not to waste their time going to manila and then eventually be removed from the top 45 later on the elimination. Because as far as I know, these two are much better singers than Jolens… Raise your hand!

Kitam, Jologs and dale nire!

BTW, this post is lovingly dedicated to Harry55 LOL

hahahaha! lovingly dedicated pa… as usual, nakalimutan ko na naman manood. hay naku! i know that the basis of everything should be done wholly pero if you’ve got talent, it is going to show. base lang to sa comment mo to, bluep, ha coz as i’ve said i haven’t seen that episode pero sana they will concretely explain their decisions. napansin mo ba parang baliktad ang nangyayari? sa US sobrang bihasa ang mga judges kaya worried sila sa magiging decision ng masa. dito naman satin baliktad. worried ang masa sa magiging decision ng judges. LOL!

sa youtube mo na lang panoorin IFM. pinopost naman ng mga fanatics don.

Actually in the US they don’t base their decisions on the judges. They have their own independent minds. Look at what happened to David Cook. He was given an unflattering remarks by Cowell yet he emerged as a winner.

Dito sa atin uto-uto pa rin ang viewers. Kung ano napapanood pinaniniwalaan agad. Dapat ang Judges ang nagaababng kung ano opinyon ng taong bayan eh. Kaso mo baligtad.

The term blind is very offensive? Perhaps this is a cultural difference between the Philippines and Canada.

Just a note, Andrea Bocelli, Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder are all visually impaired yet people adored them not because of their lack of training on stage nor their appearance but because of their voices.

Talent, skill and hard work prevailed over a physical problem.

well in nursing we don’t call patients “blind”, “deaf” or “mute” because it tends to label them rather than describe their impairment. So we use the term “visually impaired”.

    I agree. Talent supersedes appearance.

i guess, the producers of pinoy idol were looking for a judge who could be as fickle as paula, haha!

pero naman, si jolina? walang credibility! baka naman na-insecure siya sa galing ng pagkanta ni britania kaya nag-NO siya. hmp. :P
